The Polsky Building on Main Street in downtown Akron stands as a stunning art deco architectural gem adorned with 25 expansive 8'x10' windows, prompting a project aimed at highlighting themes of higher education while respecting the structure's original design. I envisioned an angular pattern that I later referred to as the "energy in the image," which proved to be the most effective approach. These striking pieces feature high-contrast layers that seem to pulse with life, radiating from various campus images. For over a decade, these 25 art installations enlivened Main Street with their bright, vivid colors and a sense of motion without actual movement. They were truly captivating, earning recognition from Channel 5 News, and remain one of my favorite projects to date.
